Kentucky Center for Statistics in a release said the unemployment rate for July was up slightly from the previous month.

The rate in July was 4.3 percent, compared to 4.1 percent in June.

The number of employed people in Kentucky was down by more than 2,000 in July, and the number of unemployed increased by more than 3,000.

Employment in Kentucky’s mining and logging sector decreased by 300 jobs from June 2019 to July 2019.

The unemployment rate for July 2019 was up from the 4.1% reported for June 2019.

The preliminary July 2019 jobless rate was down 0.1% from the 4.4% recorded for the state in July 2018.

Figures released Thursday by the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet show the state's seasonally adjusted preliminary July 2019 unemployment rate was 4.3%, up from the 4.1% reported for June, but down 0.1% from the 4.4% recorded for the state in July 2018.

The U.S. seasonally adjusted jobless rate for July 2019 was 3.7%, unchanged from June 2019, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

By this time next year, Louisville City FC will have a new home, as the two-time United Soccer League Champions will move out of Louisville Slugger Field and into an 11,300-seat stadium in Butchertown.

There are a number of motives for the construction of the Butchertown stadium, one being that the USL will require each of its clubs to have a self-owned soccer-specific stadium by 2020. That requirement provides necessity for the stadium, but one other impetus could be at play — a move to Major League Soccer.

FRANKFORT -- Kentucky's unemployment rate in May remained steady while the civilian labor force increased from April, according to figures released by the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet on Thursday.

The seasonally adjusted preliminary May 2019 jobless rate stood at 4 percent, the same as in April, but down 0.4 percentage points from the 4.4 percent recorded for the state in May 2018.

Meanwhile, the civilian labor force increased by 1,654 in May, bringing the state's labor force to 2,066,916.

Kentucky’s reputation as a transportation and logistics industry center continued to grow in May when Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos showed up in Hebron to break ground for a $1.5 billion Prime Air hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

The 3 million s.f. Prime Air freight shipping operation – scheduled to open in 2021 – will be Amazon’s first and allow it to improve two-day Prime customer delivery to one day, Bezos said.
